B45 Programme

B45 is a very special part of the programme and children’s learning here at The Kids Club2. We saw a need for those children heading off to school to offer them some more intensive and specific learning in Numeracy, Literacy and science based activities before school begins.

The children have 2 sessions in this programme each week in small groups with a teacher. Activities range from number hunts to cooking activities to writing letters to reading and sound blending simple words in short stories to shape games and using mathematical symbols and concepts.

Children begin this programme when they are 4 ½ and it is a huge honour to finally make it to B45 time!! The children are very focused in their learning in this programme and are very excited about being part of something so important in their learning journey.

Homework

Here at Kids Club 2 we have weekly homework for all of our children. Each child has a homework book into which a homework task is put in at the beginning of the week by the teachers.

Homework tasks are often linked to what learning is happening in the Kindergarten for the term and is from across many strands of learning such as maths concepts /number/counting/shapes work or writing/letters/sounds work or finding out about and exploring ideas and the world around us and designing and creating things.

The homework is marked by teachers each week and lots of positive reinforcement of the children’s efforts is always paramount.

Read Write Inc Literacy programme

Read Write Inc is a literacy programme we use in both of our Kindergartens. This programme helps children to learn letter sounds and letter formation for reading and writing. Children learn letter sounds and how to sound–blend words for reading at the same time developing handwriting skills and spelling.

It is a fun way of learning literacy and we have noticed real results since we have been using parts of this programme in our kindergartens.
