Teaching plans and Assessment processes.

At the Kids Club our programme is thematic; meaning the programme is centered around a topical focus or interest. Planning of the focus is based on the children’s interests, learning and development as assessed from our discussions with you and observations and interactions with your child. The planning notice board outlines why a particular focus has been chosen, possible directions for the focus and regularly evaluates the children’s participation and learning.

Each day the teachers complete the daily diary to indicate the activities that the children have been involved in. This can be found on the parents table. The planning board and daily diary enable you to become involved in your child’s learning.

Each child (except those attending another Early Childhood Centre) have an Individual Learning Portfolio.Learning Portfolio’s are our way of making visible to you what your child is involved in at kindergarten and the learning taking place. Your child’s learning portfolio is available for you to read. We encourage your input into this by adding any comments, feedback, photos, or records of experiences that your child has had outside kindergarten. We believe that the more understanding we have of each other (teachers, children and families) the more enriched our programme will become. Please remember that portfolios are confidential and read only your child’s portfolio. You are welcome to take these home to share with family, but please let us know if you are doing this.
