The Kids Club Philosophy
At The Kids Club we believe that in addition to establishing a sense of belonging and
building self confidence, our greatest aim as educators is to support the development
of children’s…
- Interest in their world,
- Communication, language and literacy skills,
- Understanding of mathematical concepts,
…in order that they possess the necessary disposition, skill and knowledge to confidently
discover the world in a life long journey of learning.
We consider that this is achieved foremost through providing an environment that is rich
in language, literacy and mathematical experiences; encourages exploration, and facilitates
enjoyable, successful learning experiences.
Introduction
The Kids Club consists of two kindergartens. The Kids Club and The Kids Club 2. Each
is a privately owned sessional kindergarten licensed by the Ministry of Education for
thirty children per session. The Kids Club aims to provide a fun, stimulating environment
in which two to five year old children can grow as competent and confident learners.
Our programme is based on Te Whaariki, the National Early Childhood Curriculum. It
incorporates exploration through play, guided activities and routines, with an emphasis
on language, literacy and early mathematical concepts.
During each session the children are encouraged to be involved in learning experiences
related to the focus that they are working on. This will include opportunities to join in with
singing, music, reading, writing, discussion at group times and to choose inside and outside
activities which are planned to extend knowledge, skills and dispositions for learning.
At all times the focus is on the overall interests, needs and lives of the children.
